Adopt a Rescue Dog

Give a pound dog a second chance.

Welcome to Adopt A Rescue Dog!

Adopt A Rescue Dog is a site where you can find out about dogs that have been rescued from death row, and are now waiting in foster homes, to be adopted into homes of their own. Each dog has been vet checked, desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and assessed for their suitability as pets before adoption. The dogs are all located in and around the ACT in Australia.

Caring for the dogs in our own homes, mixing them with our children and other pets,  enables us to get to know each dog well, and understand its requirements and suitability for different sorts of homes. Most dogs will receive some obedience training while in foster care to help them settle into your home more readily. We can assist you to  to choose a dog that is right for you, your family and your lifestyle.

Our adoption fees cover the vet work each dog receives.  Every dog is desexed, vaccinated, wormed and microchipped before it is adopted. Sadly, many of the dogs we rescue are ill or injured and may need considerably more veterinary care as well.  Whenever possible we provide each dog with as much care as it needs to live a normal, healthy life.

Perhaps your new best friend is waiting for you right here?

Adopting a rescue dog is simple and we will help you choose a dog thats right for you.

Besides saving a dogs life, there are lots of benefits to you of adopting a rescue dog.

Benefits of adopting a rescue dog

1. Each year in Australia, tens of thousands of normal but unwanted dogs are destroyed in pounds. Adopting a rescue dog is a kind and ethical thing to do. You give a deserving dog a chance at a happy, normal life.

2. Each rescue dog is 'pet-ready', being  vet checked, desexed, vaccinated, wormed, microchipped and on heartworm preventative.  The adoption fee for each dog, covers the costs of this, but is considerably lower than you would pay yourself if you bought a dog and paid to get these things done.

3. Each dog has been living with a foster carer, in their home, with their family and pets.  It will have received some training. We can tell you just what this dog is like, and whether it will suit your lifestyle and family.  We can safely introduce the new dog to your dog, to ensure they get along.

4. We give a two week money back guarantee on each dog.  If, despite your committment to the dog, its just not going to work, you can bring the dog back for a full refund.

5. By adopting a rescue dog,  you will free up space in our foster homes, and help us save the lives of more pound dogs in need.
